potty training is not for the squeamish

We are two days into potty training. Yesterday, I cleaned every pair of pants he owned in order to send them all with him to day care today. He arrived home this afternoon in the same pants that he was wearing this morning. Amazing! Then he dirtied two outfits in three hours.
We knew this would be rough. We are armed with an endless supply of potty training advice. My favorite was the suggestion that you make them clean up their own dirty pants. I won't soon forget the squeal of protest that Jace gave when I made him help rinse the dirty pants.

Snow days

It's not that big of secret. Teachers love snow days just as much as kids do.
This is the second snow day in a row. I can't remember the last time that happened.
There is also not that much snow. It's just so cold that when you open the door to step outside, no matter how many layers you put on, your fingers and ears start to freeze. Then when you take in a breath of the air you start coughing. It's just that cold.
Jace and I have been keeping busy indoors. Our house is totally trashed. There are the remains of couch cushion forts in the living room, half finished baking projects in the kitchen and trails of laundry, matchbox cars and stuffed animals following us all over the house. Jace is napping now. Am I cleaning up? Of course not. I'm sipping hot coffee and waisting time online.
These pictures are actually from a few weeks ago. It is way to cold for Jace to help scoop snow this time but he did enjoy helping last time. Maybe I shouldn't post these. That binky really makes it look like a child labor issue. He is glaring because he doesn't love the camera. He really enjoys the work. Really!

The Christmas pictures

It's almost the end of January. It's about time I post the Christmas stuff!Christmas in Wray this year was split into two trips because Curt and Kadra were home the week before Christmas and Dan and Becky were home the week of Christmas. We had a fantastic time seeing everyone. Unfortunately, we didn't get a complete family picture.I got this adorable shot while waiting for everyone to assemble for the group picture. Jace with his Great-Grandpa Courtney. A rare shot of the Brophy siblings all gathered for Christmas. I wish Curt, Kadra and Amanda could have been there too. Jace was the photo assistant on this one. He stood next to the tripod as everyone gathered. He was shouting at everyone to smile and would only run into the shot after I started the camera timer. The Palmer family gathered together after Christmas. Cousin Christopher joined us, visiting from PA. He and Joel got to spend a couple very cold days skiing at Winter Park.
