This morning Elaine pointed out the weather report in the paper. It is supposed to get a lot colder. We decided to take complete advantage of the beautiful fall weather today. After breakfast and Sesame Street, Elaine, Jace, and I took a walk around the pond. At the rock garden Jace practiced his climbing skills. He found a grasshopper on one of the rocks. He was fascinated but didn't want to touch it. He poked it with rocks and evergreen needles until it would jump then he would point and chase it. Poor grasshopper. I think it finally got away.
Jace and I spent the afternoon helping Elaine pull branches off of a tree that fell in the back yard and carry them up to a pile next to the street. Jace was right in the middle of the action. He even tried climbing the fallen tree. He really is my little monkey.
I was thrilled to get home for the night. I love my own bed (just wish Joel was home too).
I've captured a few images of Jace's toddler walk. One foot is completely in the air. It looks off balance; a march that relies totally on momentum to keep him upright. It's so full of energy.
